Beethoven was a huge fan of coffee, using precisely 60 beans per cup.
A coffee ‘bean’ is actually a fruit. The ‘beans’ grow on a bush in the centre of a berry.
Brazil is the world's number one coffee producer, followed by Vietnam and Colombia.
Fresh coffee beans are green and have a grassy scent. That rich brown colour and incredible aroma only come to life after being roasted.
Two types of coffee bean are used for drinking - Arabica, with lower acidity & smoother taste, and Robusta, for a more acidic and bitter taste.
For a coffee to be classed as decaf, it needs to have less than 0.3% caffeine.
