NESCAFÉ® aims to provide more sustainable jars, cartons, capsules, and sachets that create less waste, following Nestlé's ambition towards 100% recyclable or reusable packaging.
NESCAFÉ Sachets transitioning to 50% recycled plastic
We are launching Nescafe Decaf and Latte sachets wrapped in 50% recycled plastic in early 2024. By the end of 2024, our aim is that all our Nescafe coffee sachets will made using 50% recycled plastic, using mass balance certified by ISCC .
ISCC certified
Our NESCAFÉ coffee sachets are made using 50% recycled plastic, certified by ISCC. The recycled material is allocated using the ISCC mass balance approach.
ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) operates a certification scheme known as ISCC PLUS. This scheme supports the adoption of innovative recycling technologies capable of transforming hard-to-recycle materials into new plastic, thereby promoting the transition towards a circular economy.
What is mass balance?
A mass balance approach means that both recycled and virgin plastics are mixed during the production process with the amount of certified material tracked through verifiable bookkeeping.
